Thinking someone is ready to "BLAST OFF" on POTTY CHAIR training!

"BLAST OFF"

I can't explain to you how excited I am!!!! Cameron is finally blasting off w/ Rocket! I introduced him to "Little Einsteins" long before he was even thought to be able to focus on television. Lol... I know that isn't/wasn't the best thing to have done, but oh well! I love the classical music and that they travel the world! Even I learn something new when I watch an episode with Cameron...

Anyhoooo, I've been sitting Cameron in my lap and have been patting his legs and lifting up his arms to help Rocket blast off for about a year now and Cameron FINALLY did it on his own today!!!! Even his vocabulary seems to be getting better... he kept trying to say so many different words today! I am/was so proud of him! So, back to my story... Of course, he first did it when he "thought" I wasn't looking! Lol... He's just like his mama!  When I was a child, my dad ALWAYS played George Strait in his pickup and always asked me to sing along with him, but I never would sing when he'd ask me to, I'd try to sneak in a word or two when he'd look away, or so I thought. I remember plain as day, at the age of 5, "Baby's Gotten Good At Goodbye" came on and I lip sang it like there was no tomorrow, and just when I thought my daddy wasn't watching, he started cheering me on in his rearview mirror. I was embarrassed, of course, but that helped to break the ice and from that moment forward I sang and sang... still do! :) Well, that's exactly what happened today on the way to my hometown. I turned on "Little Einsteins" on the iPad and, of course, my rearview mirror was focused on Cameron (Cameron obviously didn't realize that) and, sure enough, he started patting his legs and raised his arms at the time they sang, "blast off!" And, of course, I started saying, "YAY!" and laughing hysterically, with tears in my eyes! It took me back to that day in my daddy's blue chevy! Cameron freaked out slightly... He had that look on his face, like how did you see me do that, but then he started clapping and has been blasting off ever since!

Maybe he's ready to blast off on his potty chair, too?!?!?!

I've been sitting Cameron on his potty chair for about a month now and have tried my best to explain to a 16 month old, now a 17 month old, what he's suppose to do.  Every time I go into the bathroom, I try my best to sit Cameron on the potty chair, sometimes with his clothes on and sometimes off... just so he'd get the idea. Now, he'll sit on it on his own, and a few weeks ago, he sat down on his potty chair, with his diaper and clothes on, and pooped in his diaper! I was so proud of him and thought, "It's a start!" Now, he's got to the point to where he'll bring me a diaper when he's peed or pooped in his diaper, and I'll say, "Okay, let's go change your diaper!" And, there he is, following right behind me to his changing table in his room w/ not a single problem.  It's so cute!

Tomorrow is a new day and my fingers are crossed!  Now that he's helping Rocket "blast off" maybe he'll blast right off into using his potty chair like a big boy!  And saying, mommy! Wink, wink!

And, HE'LL leave you with a smile...

He is one handing it and sort of beat it to the "blast off" part in this video but it's still a cute one!

"I PICKED OUT MY CLOTHES TODAY" - CAMERON

On Friday, Gran joined Cameron and I in Lubbock, so I could get pampered (early birthday present from my Gran...she's so wonderful, and I am so very grateful for her). While there, we passed a little pumpkin patch, so we decided to stop to pick out Gran a pumpkin and us a couple of pumpkins since we didn't pick up a daddy and mommy pumpkin, only a baby pumpkin for Cameron, during our visit to At'l Do Farms. I loaded Cam up in the wheelbarreol and off pumpkin picking we went...

I'm pretty excited now that we have a daddy, mommy and baby pumpkin for our little family. We plan to put our artist skills to test when we get back home from Dallas on Friday... Gotta get them carved and lit up just in time for trick-or-treating.

And, yes, I let my 17 month old pick out his clothes that morning... I picked him up in my arms and opened his closet door, not knowing we were going to go any place special that I'd be taking pictures of him, and told him to pick a shirt and he grabbed the colorful stripped polo from his Aunt Karen Q. (He has 2 great Aunt Karen's. ;) My dad's sister is Karen W. and Ryan's dad's sister is Karen Q. :)). Then, I put him down and told him to pick a pair of shorts off the shelf in his closet, and after pulling all of his shorts off the shelf, he grabbed a navy Oshkosh pair with sail boats on them from his Aunt Jennifer. They, oddly enough, were a close enough match, so I thought, "why not." He slightly matched his clothes! I thought, "that's pretty impressive for a one year old!" So, all in all, I feel like he was meant to go some place special, just for him, in the clothes he picked out.  LOVE my independent baby boy!

Cake Batter Brownies

Good day all! I hope this finds you all having an absolutely wonderful day! It's a beautiful 85 degrees here in west Texas, and I thought I'd throw in a quick blog before I go enjoy the beautiful weather and get out in the backyard and mow... Oh, how I LOVE yard work! I am really hoping to get our backyard ready for a garden this next Spring. Oh my goodness, how exciting would that be?! :)

Last night, I had endless tears while going through pictures from around this time last year. I cannot believe how much Cameron has grown! It seems just like yesterday I was in labor with him and he was grabbing my doctor's hand before he even entered the world! He's been impatient from day one... Ha ha... Or better yet, he was just ready to curl up in mama's arms! Oh, how I love him to pieces! Anyhow, I thought I'd share those pictures...

So, I've come to realize that I am so addicted to Pinterest, literally! I've downloaded the app to my iPhone and iPad and any free minute I get, my eyes are glued! I'm bad about pinning though. :/ I think I've gained 13 lbs in the last 2 months thanks to Pinterest and not being able to resist the amazing recipes that are being posted on there! Let's just say, my husband has been one happy camper, and I've been happy to cook for him!  Cake batter brownies from angieriver.com were a favorite of ours... I sent most of what I made to work with Ryan since the recipe makes a good amount (not meant for a household of 3). I pulled up the recipe and Cameron and mommy got busy, in heels at that! Just for Cam! ;)

Cake Batter Brownies
1 white cake mix
1/4 c. canola oil
1/4c. heavy whipping cream
1/4 c. milk
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 c. white chocolate chips (I'd put more chocolate chips ;))
1/4 c. rainbow sprinkles (I didn't add this much but should have)
Instructions
1) Mix together cake mix, milk, whipping cream, oil, vanilla and egg.
2) Add in chocolate chips and sprinkles.
3) Bake in 8x8 greased baking pan for 25 minutes @ 350 degrees
DO NOT OVERCOOK
The batter will be slightly undercooked and may even look gooey.
Wait 20 minutes before cutting in so the bars set.
Off to mow now! I hope you enjoy the pictures and recipe... more to come! -Jacqueline

Ahhhh... the smell of Fall

Have I told you how much I LOVVVEEE FALL?!  Probably so! Haha... Well, once again, it's totally my favoite time of year! There's nothing quite like fine misting rain, a cool breeze and the smell of a wood-burning fire hitting you smack in the face! ;)

Last year my husband and I decided to start a family tradition @ At'l Do Farms outside of Lubbock, TX... hay rides, the BEST CORN in west TEXAS, a corn maize and pumpkins galore! It's such a fun place to turn into a "Fall" family tradition! And, since we went on Friday, I thought I'd share a few pictures from our cold adventure. See if I ever listen to my husband again when it comes to weather! Ha ha... He looked at our local weather instead of Lubbock's weather and, sure enough, there ended up being an "almost" 30 degree difference. Thankfully, I still stuck a blanket and jacket in for Cameron, but Ryan and I froze!  Goodness gracious did we! ;) But it was still fun! Ryan snatched his roasted corn, and I downed my favorite Starbucks Pumpkin Spice Latte!

Excited for a fun night!

Loving the hay ride.

I was the photographer this year :)
